Requesting Geospatial Data
Sonoma Water creates and maintains extensive GIS databases to support Sonoma Water operations. If the Requestor is requesting data that is available from a public source, the Requestor will be directed to the public source, if possible.
Data Sharing Guidelines
Sonoma Water shall provide GIS Data that is requested from the public in the following manner:
How do I start the Data Request process and how long does it take?
To begin the data request process, the Requestor must complete the Data Request Form (below). Please note that additional information may be requested by Sonoma Water prior to the issuance of data.
Once your “Data Request Form” has been submitted, please allow at least ten working days for a response from Sonoma Water.
Requests received will be logged. Sonoma Water staff will respond to requests in the order they are received.
Sonoma Water will review the request based on the criteria defined in section one (Data Sharing Guidelines).
Response to Request
Sonoma Water will clip the geographical area requested and save the data as a shapefile. Other than basic identifier keys, attribute data will be removed. These files will be emailed (size permitting) to the original requestor.
If Sonoma Water does not provide the data, staff will send a notice to the requestor, notifying him/her data will not be shared.
